Reading Academic Vocabulary

I have always enjoyed helping students work with Reading Academic Vocabulary. I created units containing many words that students need to know and apply. It is tricky to make a comprehensive list that serves all teachers and students; therefore, I have compiled the academic vocabulary words commonly found in my State Standards of Texas (TEKS). In my research, I have seen many of them referenced in Common Core.

📣The standards used for these lists are a combination of 3-5th grade and are not labeled, allowing educators to use these materials across grade levels.

Academic Vocabulary Units include:

Word lists with definitions
Color slides (size 11 x8.5) for each word (w/word, definition, picture support)
