Student acquisition and the cataloging of new words.
At the beginning of every year, I select books to read aloud to my new students. Although I certainly have my favorites, I am always looking for new books to convey high-value concepts.
My read-aloud selections all have a purpose, and this book has become a favorite for my launch into the exciting world of word acquisition (collecting)!
I use this book to share my love of words with students! Instead of skimming past them in texts, I want students to seek out words. I teach students to stop and honor the new terms that we meet!
How can we incorporate the independent study of words into our already complete curriculums?
✔We want students to have an extensive vocabulary.
✔We want students to know that their words have power.
✔We want students to remember the words they learn through independent reading and classroom experiences.
I have created two resources to use in conjunction with student word acquisition and discovery!

# 3 Word Collection BUNDLE
The way that I see it...
Teaching students to collect words that mean something to them will enable them to control their learning. Our goal is to reach all students and foster a love of language. This can even be expanded to additional languages, and there are NO limits. Happy collecting!
